Hi All, we will have some server downtime on 11-30-17 due to Host Hardware being moved to New cabinets. This will happen in this time frame On November 30, between approximately midnight and 10 am CST,
So we could be down a few hours.
Here is the notice from my host.
“Our facilities provider in Chicago, Internap, is requiring that we move several cabinets’ worth of gear in this facility over to new cabinets. We have been planning these moves for the last month and coordinating with Internap to try to make them as smooth as possible. We have done such moves successfully many times in the past.
We have moved other cabinets already, over the course of several mornings (we are doing them early in the morning to minimize customer impact). On November 30, between approximately midnight and 10 am CST, we plan to move the equipment in the cabinet hosting your specific service. This means that you will see your service gracefully shut down at some point during the window (close to the beginning of it), and boot back up later in the window (as soon as we have finished moving all of the gear — at least several hours later).
We will be taking every precaution to be as careful as we can with your hardware. However, there is always the possibility that a hardware problem will be revealed by the move. Because of this, we strongly recommend that you back up any irreplaceable data that you may have stored on the server.
If you require very high levels of uptime and the hours of downtime will cause problems for you on the 30th, please contact us, and we can investigate how we can help, such as by providing a temporary service or moving you to other hardware. (While most of our cabinets in Chicago will need to be moved, a couple will remain in place, and those will only see downtime when our router is migrated this same morning — likely less than 60 minutes.)”
Having an issue with the Rust server restarting multiple times a day
Hello all, Been having an issue with the Rust server using too much memory and being restarted automatically by my host.
I have removed some plugins with no luck finding the cause.
Today the server has restarted around 6 times so now I’m removing RustIO Map to see if it’s the cause. SO if you like using Rustio for the map
Sorry I will try and get it back as soon as I can.
I’m thinking of letting a couple servers go because hardly anyone plays on them anymore. The Hidden Source and Day of Defeat Source. I love The Hidden, But with the last windows 10 update, it’s very hard for me to play. When I play the Hidden now my mouse will randomly aim at the ground or sky or just spin me in circles. Very annoying.
Day of Defeat I also love but rarely play and I only use it for the stats website for The Hidden. So I think I will remove both of them, And maybe look for something else to install.
If you have any suggestions of what game to have a server for leave it in the comments.
It’s really hard for me to delete The Hidden lol Lots of fun memories on that server. Had that server running since 2013 and SeaNanners made a video on the server
I’m thinking of trying out a Vanilla Rust server to see if does any better then the Modded Rust Server. I see you can have Oxide installed with only admin tools and it can stay in the Community tab.
-Wipe day- Rust server updated and ready to go. 10/05/17
I have added and removed some plugins. on the Plugin I removed was Remover Tool. It was brought to my attention that some things could be done using this tool which could ruin the game and make people leave the server. Sorry I love having the remover tool But until I can figure out a way to use it without the bugs it will be gone. I have added a Player reporting plugin That when you are killed, It puts 3 buttons on your death screen that lets you report the player that killed you If you think Hacks hacks were involved or they were playing with more than 3 to a group.
The reporting plugin is installed now, If you have any problems with the plugin let me know. The reports are sent to Madman Gaming Discord server channel Rust-Reports that only I can enter.
Well, It looks like Hurricane Irma could be heading to my area in Florida, That means I could be away from computer access for a little bit.
I will still be able to use my phone hopefully. But will be limited on what I can do.
Hopefully, this thing turns out to sea or gets weaker.
Update:: The old map is back… Backed up from last night so maybe a little setback. Better than starting over.
Hey, I looked into upgrading my VDS server to a more powerful server and I contacted my host and asked if this would wipe my Rust server and they said there would be no data loss on the upgrade. So I went ahead and upgraded my VDS from 4 core to 6 core. And Umm yeah it wiped the map.
I now have a ticket in support to see if they can fix it for us. If it cannot be fixed I’m sorry.
On the other hand, we do have a better Server.
Update:: This really sucks 🙁 So far we have restored from a backup with no luck. I don’t think we will get it back.
The support ticket is still open. I’m hoping maybe the CEO will come in on my ticket he has jumped in on my tickets before and fixed things others
could not fix.
The Rust update made some changes in the terrain that made the caves change in size, So if you built in a mountain opening or cave You might find that they may have overlapped your Furnace or doorways, Boxes. If that has happened to you let me know and I can retrieve your items for you.
Mine was not too bad. Picks below. But I had to help a player get stuff from his Furnaces because the rocks covered them up completely.
I’m switching my gaming PC into a new PC case. And found out my power supply cables are too short. If I can’t get the parts locally I will have to order. I will still be online, I just can’t game on the PC I’m using now. I was hoping to have it done in an hour or two.
It never goes smoothly when installing new stuff. At least for me, it doesn’t.
